Tell Your Story Not Your Companies Canned Message!!

You see if I was to write my blog posts and use the canned message form a company I work with how long until my audience was dwindling and how much longer after that until it was gone? I’d bet not very long, people want to see true feelings, they want valuable content, they want something that will help them, not another copy and pasted message or post on social media.

You see, if I was to use a canned message about my life, I bet it would be pretty boring and it definitely wouldn’t fit me at all. But, my story isn’t just another canned speech, it’s what made me, me and how I got to where I am today. It’s about the struggles in life, what 20 years in Emergency Medicine can do to a person, overcoming the obstacles of addiction, and finding the right mentors and leaders to become successful (www.ZLoescher.com/about). It’s about changing my mindset into that of an entrepreneur and remove the negative that surrounded me.

Your story sells, your authenticity sells, people want to get to know you, like you, and trust you! It is nearly impossible to get to know a person that is using a canned speech either as a way to leave a company, starting out with a new company, or for their everyday marketing! Those canned messages come off with a negative view on you and your business. Those canned messages show a lack of commitment by you and simply you felt it was easier to copy and paste then write your own personal message.

Just like Sandra Brown said in the above quote at the end “Be Prepared to work hard.” if you want to be successful then it will require some hard work, but that hard work can be come easy work once mastered! When we write our own content people can tell it’s coming from you personally and you get to add your own little tweaks that are organic to you. We get to expose our true feelings in our writing, we get to express ourselves when we put the pen to paper or in today’s world put the fingers to the keyboard. You see people want to feel that you are personally talking to them when you write your blog, your marketing, or even letters to your customers, promoters, or prospects. When you personally write your content you have the freedom to add a little piece that’s personal to each person or when you’re writing a blog you get to add your own feelings and findings on the subject your writing about. People want to feel that it is truly coming from you and not some corporate copywriting genius sitting in a cubicle somewhere. When you write your story, you get to live that story while you’re writing it and are able to add the emotions that came during that time or even while you’re writing your content currently.

You don’t buy your story, you make your story! Don’t fall into the trap of a canned message, they will never make you successful. Go out today and write your story if you haven’t yet or write your next marketing piece or blog post and make it from you, make it personal. People want to be able to know you, like you, and trust you!
