Tricks for Easy Video Blogging That Won’t Cost A Fortune

www.ZLoescher.comI bet you have heard a few, if not even many people say you got to get into video blogging and/or marketing, but like me was scared of getting in front of a camera! Hey it happens to all of us! Look at me almost 20 years being a first responder and I can go on the worst call and we all work together like clockwork almost without even thinking, not skipping a beat but, throw me in front of a camera and I look and act like a fish out of water! The fact is we all start at a given point and move forward from there.

Let’s look at some facts about video blogging and marketing! We all know that a video catches our eyes more than just some written post does. But did you know that 80% of your online visitors will watch a video, while only 20% will actually read content in its entirety. And Forbes study showed that 59% would rather watch a video then read text? And Implix Email marketing survey found that a simple video on an introductory email increased the click-through rate by 96%!! Are you kidding me, it’s that simple folks! A Eloqua survey found that including a video in an introductory email reduced the number of opt-outs by 75%!! MAGIC!!

But you say, great Zach but I don’t have the money to spend on a fancy camera or lighting system or editing software, I don’t know what to do!! Guys and Gals listen, we are in 2015 and I would venture to guess that 99% of us have a smartphone with a built-in camera, right? Truly, you already have almost everything you need to make a good video that will get you these kind of numbers too!! I’m betting the only thing you may really need to get is a tripod and download some editing software. Otherwise you already have everything you need in front of you! I got my tripod on Amazon for like $20 and then also bought a Square Jellyfish adapter to hold my iPhone 6+ on the tripod, I think I spent roughly $40 total for my set-up!

Once you get your video recorded the next step is editing to start and stop where you want it to and to add any captions or even an intro segment to it. I use Camtasia which has a 30 day trial period but you can get any number of video editing software. I know in the Apple and Android stores there are a variety of free and paid for editing software. I would recommend get something simple to start with and over time you can change what you use. With my Camtasia I have to shoot the video, then download it to my computer to edit it, so there is a few more steps but that’s what I personally like.

So, now you’re thinking well I do have everything I need to give this a go, but geesh I don’t know if I can talk on video for very long, GREAT!! Make it short and sweet, 2-3 minutes if not shorter, you are making the video to grab the viewers’ attention and draw them in. Yes, if you do a training video or a review of a product/service those will be longer. Again, let’s check out these numbers: 45% of viewers will stop watching a video after 1 minute and 60% by 2 minutes. 75% of users visit the marketer’s website after viewing a video. It’s always challenging trying to find new ways to interest viewers. Videos can pull customers into your website. So, with any video Tweet, pin, and post videos on social media to distribute them as widely as possible.

Now Mobile users will watch a video anywhere from 2.4 to 5 minutes. While I just used the last two points to touch on the importance of keeping video lengths manageable, there is a place for longer videos, and it turns out, mobile users are more than willing to consume longer videos. Instagram a prominently mobile app (yes, it is limited online) will get approx. 400% more interaction then just a simple Instagram photo!! But one catch with Instagram is they only allow 15 second videos so, your video here would be a quick intro to your main video. Another cool mobile fact that literally just around the corner is Two-thirds of the world’s mobile data traffic will be video by 2016!
Even if it’s just one video per month that gives viewers a update, start posting—you may learn a lot from your initial feedback, and you will gain experience creating and posting videos. I can tell you my first video were a mess! But April Marie Tucker did a March madness Video Blitz and I jumped in!! I loved it, short 15 second video on Instagram was perfect to break me in and learn the ins and outs of video marketing! Take that step and watch what it will do for your business!
