Video Marketing 101
Video Marketing is rapidly growing and many people are turning to videos now to marketing their businesses and to grow their networks. In this segment I will go over a few of the “How To Shoot Video” tips for your video marketing and cover some of the issues marketers are facing when shooting video.
First, I feel there is a large misconception is that you have to spend a good amount of money on cameras and equipment, which is false! I shoot 90% or more of my videos either from my iPhone or iPad and you can also use any cell phone as today’s phones have great rear facing camera and decent front facing camera.
Second, is how to position the camera. Always hold your camera in a horizontal plane (pic 1 below) as this is going to give you a full screen when uploaded to your media center (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.). Holding it vertical (pic 2 below) will give you a skinny vertical video not using the whole screen and leave a large black area on both sides of your video. The vertical video just gives you a poor look and leaves a lot of negative area around your videos.

And third is uploading your video. This is where it can get tricky depending on your phone and if you’re using cell service or WiFi to upload it. You may have better luck with WiFi on larger videos. Also, people run into email issues and having their videos turning 90 degrees in an email. Personally, I wouldn’t email a video as some email hosts have size limitations and it is much easier to send a link from your video host to everyone. The main reason a video turns is you more than likely have also turned the video from vertical to horizontal or horizontal to vertical during the recording.
Before you hit record have the camera ready to go and don’t move it, is the easiest way to combat that turning issue. Hope these tips help you excel in your video marketing, let me hear your feedback.
